Aelanius: Island leaders to discuss Pacific Plan Review 2013


The official opening of the Forum Officials Committee Session
Date:                   Wednesday 4 December
Time:                   9am-10.15am
Venue:                 At the Main Conference Centre
                            Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat Headquarters, Suva, Fiji.
The Forum Officials Committee Session will begin at 9.00am where the Chair, the Solomon Islands, will call the meeting to order and the meeting will be opened by the Secretary General, Tuiloma Neroni Slade.

An official photograph will be taken at 10.00am followed by morning tea

The Forum Officials Committee will meet from 4-6 December at the Secretariat’s Headquarters in Suva. Senior government officials from Forum Member Countries, Associate Members, Observers and CROP agencies will attend this high level meeting.

The Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, Tuiloma Neroni Slade, will deliver the opening remarks.

The meeting will be chaired by a representative from the Government of the Solomon Islands.

The officials will discuss the Pacific Plan Review 2013 Report and the budget and work programme of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.

The Pacific Plan Review 2013 Report to Pacific Leaders was submitted by the Chair of the Review Team Sir Mekere Morauta on 31 October 2013.

It is one of the most eagerly awaited regional policy documents this year and Leaders have tasked the Committee to review it and report to Leaders on next steps for their consideration at a Special Leaders retreat to be held in April 2013.

Discussion on the budget and work programme will involve review, discussion and approval of the Forum’s 2014 budget.

Corporate Reforms will also be on the agenda of the three-day meeting.  Information presented to the officials will include The Secretariat’s progress to implement a fully integrated planning (& reporting) framework.

Additionally, the first report of the new Audit and Risk Sub Committee; roll out of a new Human Resources strategy and ICT improvements and reporting on the upgrading of the Forum’s external communications.
